Building together with Jesus

We have a Kiswahili saying; “Usipo ziba ufa utajenga ukuta” (If you don’t fix a crack, you will build a wall!)
The human society has a crack, and it is widening; causing faithlessness, hopelessness, egoistic tendencies, individualism, and many others.
The words of Jesus in Mathew 16:18 “… and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it,”

and in Mark 16:15, 16 “Go into the whole world and preach the good news to all creation.

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned” point to what and how he is building his community, the church.

If we will become co-builders with Jesus, it has to start with ourselves. We all have cracks that leak, but some of us leak too much!  The nature of our cracks is not the same. You will need to fix yours as I fix mine.

When Jesus called his disciples, (who he also designated apostles), he demanded a continuous radical obedience and commitment from them. Radical is a word that many in our days will rather not hear. But Jesus did not call a people to himself that had personal agenda. They had to set aside everything for him, and for his cause. This task is not for the weak or those seeking blessings of a new car, a new house, a new wife, and a new everything. The task of building with Jesus is for those willing to lay everything down for their master; to the point of selling everything they have so that they can buy the real treasure. It is for those who are decided to seek the Kingdom of God first, not things first.

What and how are you building? Your kingdom or His Kingdom? Are you for Him or for yourself?

 Yours in His Vineyard,
